Holiday hours

Town offices will be closed Monday, December 26th for Christmas and Monday, January 2nd for New Year's.

Dog Control

Dog Control Officer Jill Shufeldt has been alerted to a missing dog, lost on Shivertown Road.  "Taffy" is a very shy Mini-Pinscher, but should not be approached.  If you believe you've seen her, call 760.382.5535 (owner) or 845.626.5979 (Dog Control Officer).

Tropical Storm Lee - FEMA deadline

If you suffered damage from Tropical Storm Lee (September 7-11, 2011) the deadline to register with FEMA is November 14, 2011.  *Note - the deadline for the application period for individual assistance (families, businesses) for both Irene and Lee has been extended to December 15th.  If you applied for FEMA funds after Irene, you must file separately for Lee.  To register by phone, call 1-800-621-3362 (TTY 1-800-462-7585) or online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.

Parades/Festivals

Is your organization planning a parade or festival to take place on Town or Village streets or in one of our parks?  If so, you must fill out the event application (also available at Town and Village Hall) and submit it well in advance of your event.  The New Paltz Police Department must do a safety review of your planned activity, which may also require Town and/or Village approval.

Hurricane Irene

Governor Cuomo has launched an $8 million appliance grant program for those who sustained property damage as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.  All grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for completed applications, which will be available beginning Monday, September 19 at www.NYSApplianceRebates.com or by calling 1-877-NY-SMART (877-697-6278).  The grant program will continue until funding runs out.

Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand has published a Guide to Disaster Assistance and Relief Funding, a "how to" for navigating the disaster assistance process.

Click here for an August 31st statement from Governor Cuomo on President Obama granting Federal Disaster Declaration for New York.  Ulster County has been deemed eligible for both Individual Assistance and Public Assistance.

Individual Assistance will allow residents and businesses to file for federal assistance.  Applications may be submitted beginning Thursday, September 1 by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or file online by logging into http://www.disasterassistance.gov/ .  Hearing impaired individuals using TTY may call 1-800-462-7585, or via video relay at 1-800-621-3362.  These phone lines are available from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week.

Public Assistance will allow municipalities and certain non-profits to rebuild roads and infrastructure.

Governor Cuomo has issued a press release on August 29th with advice and suggested measures for New Yorkers with property losses.  Read that press release here.

If you have experienced damage to your business, home or contents thereof, please fill out the Ulster County Damage Assessment Form and return it to the Town Building Department at Town Hall, PO Box 550, New Paltz, NY  12561 at your earliest convenience.

Updated information on road closings, shelter information and other preparations arranged for residents can be found by calling the New Paltz Police Department information line at 845.255.7123Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads and do not move road barriers.  If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1.  A fire truck and ambulance will be stationed west of the Wallkill River during flooding.

Assessment Roll

Pursuant to Real Property Tax Law § 1590, assessment rolls can be viewed at the Ulster County website.

Effective August 1, 2011:

All Town-owned or managed properties including, but not limited to, parks, playgrounds, recreational facilities and associated parking lots will be tobacco-free zones.

Wetlands Law

The New Paltz Town Board held a question and answer session on the Proposed Wetlands Law on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the New Paltz Community Center.  Copies of the draft law are available at the Town Clerk's office (845.255.0100).  A public hearing was held September 22, 2011 at 7pm.

Town Board meetings are the 3rd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 7:30pm.  
Agendas are posted on the Town Calendar (accessible from our Home Page).

Public Hearings are scheduled between 7:00 and 7:30pm, when needed.
Meetings are open to the public and are also televised live in New Paltz on Time Warner Cable Channel 23.  Meetings can also be viewed on the New Paltz Living website.
